What were you doing before you joined the MRC-DTP?
Before joining the MRC-DTP, I graduated with an MPhil in Biochemistry, working within the lab, that I am currently doing my PhD research in.
Why did you choose to study at the University of Cambridge?
I had previously graduated from the Natural Sciences Tripos at the University of Cambridge, and was greatly excited by the quality of research and network of scientists in the University and its affiliated institutions, as well as the culture of research in my department and especially my lab.
What do you enjoy most about your day-to-day work and the people you work with?
At the beginning of my PhD, I really enjoyed learning about my research field and new laboratory techniques every day. People in Herbison lab are super supportive and helpful. I learnt a lot just from talking to people in the lab. Currently, I enjoy developing new methods to achieve what we want to investigate.
What do you most value about your MRC-DTP Studentship?
There are research day, social events, as well as various workshops throughout the year with the MRC-DTP. Through these events, I have met many people from different fields. I also appreciate that the MRC-DTP studentship comes with a stipend that still supports me during this inflation period. I really value the flexible funding with this studentship, as I am considering applying for an internship during my PhD.
What do you plan to do after your graduate?
I would like to discover research opportunities in pharmaceutical companies.
