Cameron A. Hall
What were you doing before you joined the MRC-DTP?
Prior to joining the MRC-DTP, I completed my undergraduate degree in Biomedical Science, before joining a biotechnology company, working as a Research Scientist in research and development.
Why did you choose to study at the University of Cambridge?
I chose Cambridge as the Neurochemistry research group offered a great opportunity, with a wealth of knowledge and experience, for me to apply my project ideas, building off of my previous research.
What do you enjoy most about your day-to-day work and the people you work with?
My research groups allows me to interact with other scientists from various backgrounds, as well as clinicians who are all able to support me with my in vitro and in vivo research. Furthermore, I have been given the opportunity to undertake some neuroimaging analysis within a different group that would be beyond the usual scope of my PhD project. The support offered by all of these colleagues makes the day-to-day work enjoyable and rewarding.
What do you most value about your MRC-DTP Studentship?
The MRC-DTP has continued to support my work both within the University and beyond. Most recently, the MRC-DTP has supported my contribution and attendance at the Society for Neuroscience to be a member of their Trainee Advisory Committee.
Have you had any internships or high-level training and if so, can you describe their benefits to you?
The MRC-DTP has provided me with the opportunity to attend multiple training courses, including a metabolomics training course with the University of Birmingham and the EnterpriseTECH course with the Cambridge Judge Business School.
