Work Placement Opportunity in the Cabinet Office – Funded through the Flexible Supplement
The opportunity has arisen to experience a work placement with the Cabinet Office’s Open Innovation Team which has been set up to accelerate innovation around Whitehall by deepening collaboration with academics and others outside experts. These will be three month placements. The team works across Whitehall and covers a wide range of priority policy areas including industrial strategy, mental health, childcare and digital transformation.
The ‘Open Innovation Team’ are particularly interested in applications from PhD students with an interest in health policy, including mental health, work and health, health tech and health service reform. A job description is attached Cabinet Office Job Description

2018 MRC Max Perutz Science Writing Award
The 2018 MRC Max Perutz Science Writing Award will open on Wednesday 2 May, with a closing date of Wednesday 4 July. As most of you know, the award asks MRC-funded PhD students to write an 800-word article for a non-scientific audience, explaining why their research matters. This year is the 21st anniversary of the competition, and we want to encourage as many students as possible to enter!
As with previous years, the winner will receive a prize of £1,500 and their article will be published on the MRC Insight blog and the MRC website.
